Bug Description

I linked a second desktop app and this created conversations for group members with whom I had never conversed outside a group (left desktop app on screenshot). For the previously linked Desktop app, entirely empty conversations were created (right desktop app on screenshot).

I do not believe this is what any user expects or what you, the devs, had in mind.

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisites:

Signal with one linked Signal Desktop

Steps:

  1. Join a group. I joined a GV2 group but that might not matter.
  2. Wait for some messages to arrive. (As far as I can tell conversations were only created for members of the group from whom I received messages. I suspect that profiles are shared with the first message or something like that.)
  3. Link a seconds Desktop App

Actual Result:

See above.

Expected Result:

I'm only being told that the conversation isn't transferred if there has been some direct conversation with a person rather than just being in the same group with that person.
