Monochrome Tray Icon #4668

On a related issue, does the application currently support Linux icon theming? |

+1. I'd appreciate this also. |
Was this implemented? |
I am still interested |
well, did anyone got some monochromatic icons already? |
Would be nice to have. |
My wishlist:
Currently on Linux the Signal tray icon looks grainy at pretty much all resolutions and sizes. Part of the issue is the design, which features tiny dashes around the word bubble that become badly aliased at tray icon scale. A simplified and scalable icon would largely fix this. Not to say this should block adding a monochrome version of the current icon, but would be great to make changes with all desired features in mind. |
The current tray icon has a blue outline, just like the application icon. Other messaging services such as Discord and Slack use monochrome tray icons by default with a drop shadow for improved contrast on light-mode tray backgrounds. Windows and Linux DEs such as GNOME seem to also use monochrome icons by default for their trays.
Can we see Signal Desktop use a monochrome icon for consistency with these other services?
That would be great, thank you!
