There's a similar problem mentioned in #3387 and I've requested for this bug report to be re-opened but to no avail.

Bug Description

Count of unread messages is not displayed in Ubuntu/Gnome dock.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In Signal options tick box to "Count muted conversation in badge count"
    Signal message count option
  2. Receive a message (marked as unread)

Actual Result:

Count badge will show unread message in tray area, on high resolution the counter is so small that it's barely visible and will never grab your attention, example:
Signal - tray unreadable message count

Expected Result:

I would expect a unread message counter badge to be displayed in Ubuntu (Gnome) dock where favorite/running applications are displayed, how it's done for Telegram. In this case, I also have unread messages for Signal, which is not shown.

Signal - unreadable message count

Platform Info

Signal Version: v1.39.6 - installed from Snap store

Operating System: Ubuntu (Linux) 20.04 (Gnome: 3.36.8)

Linked Device Version: Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G (Android 11)

Wasn't this supported at some point?
