Bug Description

I have set the "Disappearing Messages" feature to a non-forever value, such as one week. Messages that are sent do, indeed, disappear. But ALL items in the chat history should also disappear, specifically, video call history.

I have made video calls to a contact, items such as: "Outgoing Video Call, Mar 4 10:11am" show in the chat history. These items do NOT disappear in the designated timeframe.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. set "Disappearing Messages" feature to non-forever value, such as 1 minute, 1 week.
  2. make a video call to the contact. record of the call appears in chat history.
  3. after the timeframe expires, the "Outgoing Video Call" or "Missed Audio Call" or other non-message type entries do not disappear.

Expected Result:

I expected ALL events within the chat history, regardless of type of event, to disappear from chat history in the specified timeframe.

Since I filed my issue, I have now found a 3 year old issue that is the same #3672 on the iOS app area. And yes, the bug still exists in iOS.
For an app that claims to be the most secure, and has gotten millions of new users based on that reputation, a privacy oriented feature ought to warrant some attention.

Personally, I wouldn't call this a "feature request" but a bugfix.

Has this been fixed? I'm not 100% sure.

There are some improvements in the latest version: https://community.signalusers.org/t/beta-feedback-for-the-upcoming-desktop-5-18-release/37094

There could still be some other things left, you'd have to test this.
