Status doesn't clear for others

Bug description

I’ve noticed that, if I clear my status and/or the emoji, it doesn’t clear said status for my contacts. Only if I change it does it update.

I’ve been made aware of this issue, only roughly a year after I cleared my last status (which apparently was still showing for people I chat with).

Steps to reproduce

• Set a status
• Check your status on another person's device
• Clear your status again on your device
• Check your status on another person's device again
  • Status is still there (unwanted)

Actual result: The previous status still shows up on other people's devices, even when you cleared it.

Expected result: The status shouldn't show up anywhere after you've cleared it.
