ashx language fileRoot and serverRoot issue

If lang = "ashx", only following entries for folder path seem to work
"serverRoot": true,
"fileRoot": "",

This way the component shows files from "userfiles" folder. I tried putting "assets/images/" and it does not work. Permissions are correct on the folder. If I set serverRoot to false, then the component does not show up. I had nightmares the whole day to make it work with ashx option. I assume it is working for you folks when you set the lang = "php".
