mjl Layer's scope

a couple of new Issues I've created the past few days:

• issue prefer horizontal splitting #9 prefer horizontal split
• issue some parts of layers/mjl/funcs.el belong elsewhere #8 parts of funcs.el belong elsewhere
• issue moinmoin.el for editing MoinMoin wikis #10 install moinmoin.el

Are demonstrating that this layer is becoming a victim of "scope creep". It probably always has been, since it contains all of "my customisations" from the beginning of the century.

I should review what's in this layer, decide if any of it should become separate layers with a clear scope, and then split it out (and then load them back from a layers.el in the main mjl Layer, probably).

i think that the Feature stuff in the conf directory is a simptom of this too -- i obviously felt that it doesn't really belong as a part of the mjl Layer, but I didn't want it cluttering up init.el directly either, and sometimes it shouldn't be required.

So that actually the stuff in conf is just tiny Layers that I haven't written yet.
