Change six-icon library from google material icons to google material symbols

What problem does this feature solve?

It seems that google material symbols is kind of the new version of icons. At least I understand that

In general terms, it seem that symbols offer more options and some of common icons have a slightly different design. Here a couple of examples:

What does the proposed API look like?

There are even some cases like this one where a requested icon (the icon that our design colleagues asked us to include on Figma) doesnt appear on google material icon but it does on google material symbols
