What's Happening?
The 0.76.0 release of Skeleton today will be the last under the Brain & Bones organization. If you're not familiar, Brain & Bones is the company that myself (Chris) and my partner Thomas operated under when we originally created Skeleton in February 2022. Since August, Skeleton has been open sourced and continues to grow rapidly - both in terms of scale and popularity. Right now Skeleton is averaging about 100 stars/month on Github and around 500 weekly downloads on NPM, with almost no promotion on our end. Because of this, we've made the decision to migrate Skeleton to its own dedicated GitHub and NPM organizations!
How will this affect the project?
The changes will be very minimal for now. We anticipate no changes to the structure or features of the library itself.
How will this affect me?
The next release of Skeleton will come with two notable updates that you should be prepared for:
.../Brain-Bones/skeleton
to.../NewOrgName/skeleton
. Keep an eye on GitHub, our website, and social media channels when the change goes live. We'll promote the new location everywhere we can!@brainandbones/skeleton
package. Same as above, we will announce and promote the new package as soon as it is live and ready! And don't worry, we'll include a migration guide to make this process easy for you and your projects! Basically you'll just need to update your bookmarks, uninstall the old package, then install the new package.
When will we learn more?
The team and I are working on a bigger announcement that we plan to release alongside the next release, which should be around two weeks from today. This will cover more information about the new organization and our goals for the project. We feel this is going to be a major step forward and we're looking forward to sharing more soon.
Please stay tuned and thanks for your continued support.
Cheers,
Chris
