Hey there!
TL;DR: Brace yourself for the transformation of Espresso! Thanks to a much-anticipated seed-funding windfall and in response to the surge of NSFW content and spammy repetitions, Espresso is undergoing a rebirth, this time as Bublr If you're a former Espresso user, make sure to claim your blogs before January '24.
Even if you're already well-acquainted with Espresso, let's dive into a quick recap. Back on April’22, this project embarked on a journey as an elegant, clutter-free haven for writers to unleash their creativity! 😄
Starting as your quintessential open-source endeavor, Espresso's fate took a cosmic turn when it burst into the limelight, thanks to a spectacular feature on Product Hunt. The aftermath was mind-boggling: for days on end, it basked in the glory of over 2,000 daily views, even attracting the attention of esteemed institutions like Yale.
Watching this unfold was nothing short of magical, and words barely suffice to convey my gratitude to all those who played a role in this phenomenal triumph. I'd also like to give a shoutout to my Rock, Jesus Christ, my guiding light and reason for all this. Without his grace, neither this journey nor my success would have been possible.
But, beyond the surface charm lay a not-so-charming underbelly, teeming with unwanted and unsavory content. Despite appearances, the depths held a barrage of explicit and spammy textual assaults. 😞
Juggling the implementation of content regulations with the demands of being a full-time student (Yep, still rocking the student life ❤️) was no small feat. Though a few good souls lent a hand here and there, even they started to dwindle. As if that wasn't enough, Freenom (the domain registration service) decided to take a hiatus, leaving many domains, including mine, in the dust.
It felt like a huge weight had been placed on my shoulders, and at that moment, I realized that continuing the Espresso journey alone wasn't feasible. This epiphany led to the bittersweet decision to bid farewell to Espresso and welcome Bublr with open arms. This transformation followed some intense brainstorming sessions and soul-searching. A pivotal seed funding round paved the way for this evolution, and we also acknowledged that the current code base was due for a major update, considering the outdated nature and complexity of the database.
Fret not; even as I transition to being a member of the Board, my role as Chief Advisor will persist throughout Bublr's genesis. The original code will be preserved in the annals of history, accessible to anyone intrigued by the project. To ensure your legacy lives on, you can request the transfer of your blogs to solomon@bublr.life; just make sure to do so before the January'24 deadline.
Get ready to plunge into the future with Bublr! 🌌🚀
