w3cpull

w3cpull is a tool for pulling data from IBM w3 Connections.

Description

Since w3 Connections does not allow exporting data and does not have a REST API, it was decided to go from the front side and use Selenium. This tool allows you to download wiki pages and related files from the community and sub-communities. As a result, you get a local copy of the community content (currently only wiki content) with the original structure.

Environment

  • Languages: Python
  • Frameworks: Selenium
  • Interface: CLI
  • Supported OS: Linux, OS X

Installation

Requirements:

  • Python (>=3.6)
  • Browser (Chrome / Firefox)

Linux:

 $ pip install w3cpull

OS X:

 $ curl https://bootstrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py -o get-pip.py
 $ python3 get-pip.py w3cpull

Usage

Usage:
    w3cpull --community-url=COMMUNITY_URL --target-dir=TARGET_DIR_PATH [--temp-dir=TEMP_DIR_PATH] [--w3id-auth=W3ID_AUTH] [--browser=BROWSER] [--recursive] [--visual]
    w3cpull -h | --help
    w3cpull -v | --version

    --community-url=COMMUNITY_URL Set the URL of the target community
    --target-dir=TARGET_DIR_PATH Set the path to the directory where the content will be saved
    --temp-dir=TEMP_DIR_PATH Set the path to the folder where the content will be temporarily stored and processed (by default, /tmp)

    --browser=BROWSER Set the name of the browser to use (by default, Firefox)
    --recursive Set the recursive execution type (with subcommunity processing)
    --visual Set the visual execution type (with the browser open)
    -h, --help Show this help message.
