This is a follow-up to my feedback for the Performant mod: someaddons/performant_issues#126

As one of the most used mods of all time, OptiFine would benefit immensely from providing an API or extensive documentation that mod developers can use to ensure compatibility with your mod.
This would greatly reduce the workload on your team while also helping clear the "foul air" surrounding OptiFine, without needing your work to be open-sourced.

This would definitely benefit the mod in so many ways, and perhaps mods that once had longstanding issues with optifine, such as Twilight Forest, could become compatible if you give them the tools and info on how to do so.
