Description

Playing AI, when crew starts to get converted to zombies, my framerate gradually drops when looking at zombies.

Framerate seems to be dependent on how many zombies are on screen. So I think it is the zombie characters themselves that are causing the drops, and not the large amount of bullet casings and blood that usually comes with a zombie round.

Reproduction

  1. Be AI
  2. Zombie round with a bunch of players
  3. Lots of crew get converted
  4. SS14 powered by microsoft powerpoint

Screenshots

FPS in the top-right of the screen.

Additional context
I've heard other people in OOC confirm that they have this as AI, but I do not know if it is universal.

My specs, if at all relevant. It's a performance/framerate thing after all:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
  • AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT
  • 32gb of ram whatever

Magical zed energy that messes with Ai's perhaps?
but that is a strange bug, wonder what causes it,
does it happen if you look on a cams console as well? or is it purely an AI issue?

I can't confirm whether it does. I have been trying to reproduce the issue by running the game locally, but I cannot reproduce the awful framerates that I get on the servers during zombie rounds.

AI isn't actually using a stitched-together camera image though, is it? It's just an all-seeing player with an overlay on top right?
That would sort of make sense, as the only thing I saw affecting performance locally at all is enabling or disabling the AI overlay. Regardless of whether I was controlling AI or not.

I think I see the issue
image
Runtime zombie is infinitely biting a zombie mouse,... atleast thats what it looks like.
nvm lag seems seperate from that issue.

Zombies are causing lag even to regular players who are not AI, having felt it myself compared to being close and far away from the station.

Additional information: People report that the framerate issues go away the moment they become a zombie.
