Providing Multilingual Support and Technical Assistance for Project Accessibility #70
Comments
Hi, thank you for the kind words and for bringing this up! I would love for Flying Carpet to have versions in Chinese and other languages. I am not sure how to do this work myself yet, and I'm working on adding Bluetooth at the moment so am not sure when I'll be able to devote significant time to this. Suggestions on how to internationalize a Tauri app from anyone who reads this would be welcome. Is there currently a fork with modifications for Chinese? I'd be happy to take a look and see if I can help with the GitHub Actions portion, though I am not an expert there either. |
I should be able to use https://github.com/kellpossible/cargo-i18n/ for the desktop versions, and it should be straightforward on iOS and Android. I can maybe do the translations with Google or ChatGPT. |
Hi, First of all, I want to thank you for offering to create multilingual versions. This will make the project accessible to more people, which is very meaningful. Also, I would like to explain why I didn't reply to your message in a timely manner. The Spring Festival is the most important holiday in China, and I've been busy celebrating with my family. I didn't have time to go online during this period. I hope you can understand. If there's anything I can help you with, please let me know. |
No worries, hope the Spring Festival was wonderful for you and your family and happy Lunar New Year! |
Thank you so much! We had a great time during Spring Festival. I hope you had a wonderful time as well! |
The project is highly beneficial, offering seamless file transfer across multiple platforms. However, a significant portion of potential users, including friends and family, lacks proficiency in English. To address this, there's a desire to create a Chinese version of the project. Initially, this involved forking and modifying the project. Due to limited server capacity on a personal VPS, GitHub Actions were adopted for deployment. However, technical expertise in this area is lacking, necessitating external assistance.
Furthermore, there's a broader aspiration for the project to support multiple languages to cater to a diverse user base. While the current version is functional, language barriers hinder its accessibility and adoption. Thus, there's a call for volunteers or collaborators with technical proficiency to aid in these efforts.
