Hi there, we have the goal of building the best open source billing platform targeted at hosting automation.
Our goal is to build a tool that is stable, customizable, flexible, and powerful.

Right now, FOSSBilling is on it's way to the first official production-ready release and any donations can help us achieve that goal sooner and better by giving us access to more tools, infrastructure, or even sponsored development time towards the project.

FOSSBilling's history

FOSSBilling began as a fork of the BoxBilling project, which used to be a popular low-cost choice for web-hosting which eventually became fully free and open source before eventually going unmaintained on GitHub for some time. Originally, an attempt was made to revive the BoxBilling project itself and a few releases were made, however contributors ran into some difficulty related to management of the project which sometimes slowed down or halted development.

After some discussion, it was decided towards the end of 2022 that the best plan of action was to create a fork of BoxBilling which is when FOSSBilling was born! The process of forking off from BoxBilling, creating new branding, and setting up a governance policy for long-term success.

Our very first beta release was 0.1.0 on December 2nd, 2022 and we have been hard at work since then with many releases, tons of improvements, and a lot of great work being put into the software to make it as good as possible.
