I'm an Electrical and Mechanical Engineer who works on open source software in my free time. I have been programming as a hobby since high-school. I am familiar with several languages (python, c, c++). Here on GitHub, I primarily work on dupeGuru, a duplicate file finder, and have contributed to a few other projects in the past.

Sponsorship

I am primarily looking for sponsorship to help support my efforts in maintaining and improving dupeGuru. While I enjoy most of the work on this project, there have been some items which just have not been as "fun" to get through and others which have had a financial cost. Other times I have found it hard to gauge how useful this work is to others. So my goal with sponsorship is to help these three items by supporting the following:

• Provide a tangible incentive to continue development and gauge impact of the project
• Provide a way to support development of macOS and the cost associated with it, specifically:
  • Apple Developer Program membership
  • Additional hardware expenses

Why pay for Apple Developer Program?

I want to make using the application for the end user as easy as possible, without signing the package with an ADP certificate there are additional steps the user has to go through to run the application (such as approving the security exception etc.). By signing the application package for macOS the use is streamlined. I am only going to proceed with this if there is interest from the community.

Hardware?

The only reason I use macOS and the related apple hardware I own are for the two opensource projects that have macOS as a supported OS. So I would like a way to cover the expenses related to the hardware.

What about those not using macOS?

Those not using macOS still benefit by supporting by showing support for the project. This helps provide motivation for continuing to work on this project in my free time rather than finding something else to work on.
