When sequence diagrams are exported to XMI, the lifelines, messages and fragments are captured. However, it is impossible to obtain the sequence of messages as the activations are not captured. For each message, we know which lifelines it is being sent between and what the signature of the message is. however, if we cannot determine if the activation of a message is the end point of a previous message, we will not be able to infer the actual sequence of messages.
