rest api: get entries by taxonomy

Hi all,

Updating from earlier projects (that have already used the content API as statamic pro feature) I've noticed that the api endpoint for getting entries based on a taxonomy collection does not seem to work anymore. more specific:

/api/taxonomies/*taxonomynamehere*/terms/*termnamehere*/entries does not work anymore.

looking at only /api/taxonomies/*taxonomynamehere*/terms/*termnamehere*/ I still see the 'entries_count' which seems to be correct, but no actual entries.

Has this been removed on purpose and if yes, is the only way around it and to get all entries of a specific taxonomy, to override the API output with custom resources?

Found another possible solution looking more closely at the rest API docs https://statamic.dev/rest-api#filtering

Calling the following should do it /api/collections/*collectionnamehere*/entries/?filter[*taxonomynamehere*:term]=*termnamehere*. ...but it always gives me all the (unfiltered) entries from all taxonomy terms. Am I applying the filter in a wrong format or does the rest API filtering not support the taxonomy filter as it seems to be different/more complex than the other simple filters?
