Scale indicator in lower left corner works only in imperial measures. Original iD lets you change that to metric, but not Strava iD.

Looks like this is part of 1.9.5 which this version of iD needs to be updated to openstreetmap#2351

There is some talk on that issue of modifying your user settings to get metric but it didn't work for me :(
