Postgresql 17 offers a new mechanism called direct ssl that skip tranditional wire protocol's handshake process and starts directly with ssh handshake: https://www.postgresql.org/docs/17/libpq-connect.html#LIBPQ-CONNECT-SSLNEGOTIATION
