just a few ideas, how it could work:

set up tempo and integrate in grafana
Configure k8s-monitoring like https://github.com/grafana/k8s-monitoring-helm/tree/main/charts/k8s-monitoring-v1/docs/examples/traces-enabled so tracing is enabled and forward to tempo is configured
backstage needs to forward traces to alloy port 4317 (grpc) or 4318 (http) .. like in https://opentelemetry.io/docs/languages/sdk-configuration/otlp-exporter/ … maybe in code like https://opentelemetry.io/docs/languages/js/exporters/ or with env variable OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_TRACES_ENDPOINT … listener ports are already configured in https://github.com/grafana/k8s-monitoring-helm/blob/4493ba2179d9ec9821af356757088d5c8f269501/charts/k8s-monitoring-v1/values.yaml#L1943
