Champions Meeting 2024-09-06

Attendees: Tab, Ron, Jordan

  • Waldemar says no new contextual infix keywords, suggests ~= instead of is

  • Visibility of the pattern cache to if() bindings

  • Regex patterns - it seems like this is the one that trips people up wrt complexity. I'd be sad about losing the regex literal syntax, but I could accept it for now, as long as the regex custom matcher remains.

    • Ron says yes, drop it.
    • Jordan is fine as long as the custom matcher remains.
  • Discard patterns

    • committee was split on _ vs void
    • Ron wants to just go with void, duplicate _ stuff has inconsistencies/issues
    • we'll currently stick with void in pattern matching, mark it as an "addition in line with concurrent proposals"
  • Tab will make README changes and prep slides Soon

    • Another champion meeting to go over the slides before plenary
    • Jordan is volunteering to do the plenary presentation, I think? (Tab won't be there, conflicting multi-day meeting.)

Happy to do the presentation as long as we've had a chance to do a runthrough in advance :-)
