How can we make the visualizer work with javascript files that use external modules?

Main obstacle:

no way for the code in the browser to load up another local javascript file automatically from an arbitrary directory

Some options:

extra script to package modules so that the html file can load them
assume any included modules are in the same directory as the html file and request them dynamically (does this work?)
