Thanos receiver network usage

Have a question about thanos receiver network usage.
If agent tx is around 1.3Mbps for 100k metrics, what would be the network usage of two thanos recievers.
I was expecting around 0.7Mbps per receiver. But the total rx seems 7Mbps. Is it because thanos receiver uncompresses the agent traffic to compute hash and then does not compress it back when rerouting to other receiver.

2 thanos receivers in a hash ring
No replication

Any inputs ? Anyone else finds network usage high between thanos receivers ?
