I'm trying to squeeze the last bit of speed out of my website.
After I've already dealt with browser caching, compressing JS, CSS and some other things, it was now the turn of the images.
Even images that are compressed well, if in the wrong format are criticized by PageSpeed-Insights. It wants modern formats, so for example webp.
For the category images that are coded as responsive background images, I first had 1024x640px, then reduced it to 700x438px, which produces good results for all resolutions.
Then I compressed my PNGs and converted them to webp. I currently have 5 such images on the homepage, with a total of 86 KB. My logo, also a webp, is only 2 KB.
All the images in my almost 500 posts are now compressed webp files.
I have my web hosting with webgo for several years and I am very happy with it.
In general, phpMyFAQ is very suitable for a fast website. There are still some areas that can be improved.
PLEASE TELL ME: What do YOU do to make your websites fast??? :)
