I have used the search function to see if someone else has already submitted the same bug report.
I will describe the problem with as much detail as possible.
App
Thunderbird for Android
App version
9.0b1
Where did you get the app from?
Google Play
Android version
Android 15, Nov update
Device model
Pixel 6a
Steps to reproduce
I noticed that some of my mail wasn't arriving in Thunderbird for Android. Some folders of the account in question were pushed, the rest were set to sync manually.
I had pulled down to sync from the account. Pulled down to sync while in the folder. Hit the sync button above the setting gear. I was getting frustrated. My K-9 continued to function correctly. Great. Mailbox differences between web + K-9 and Thunderbird.
After doing some exercises to try to figure out why my mail stopped days ago, unsetting push and/or manual sync settings in all sorts of combinations, I went to Fetch and walked through the Incoming Server and found out that the OAUTH connection was broken and needed a reset with a new authentication.
Ask is to have a visual cue when one of these situations happen on an account. It may need to cascade, such that a red tick appears on the account circle. Opening up those settings has a red tick next to Fetching. And finally a red tick on Incoming Server. Or any other better/easier way (realizing some of these menus may not be able to be adorned with emoticons).
The fix would apply to K-9 - I'm sure the scenario happens there.
Expected behavior
Visual cue that I need to re-authenticate for my OAUTH 2.0 session.
Actual behavior
Sync rotating arrow spun and spun and ended. I had no idea my session had expired.

@andbenn I was able to reproduce your issue. In case there are authentication issues, there should be a notification. Once you click it it should trigger the reauthentication. And yes, the visual cue could be improved.
@wmontwe I wasn't getting any Android notifications at the time this happened to me. For the server impacted, I had both Push and Sync'd folders. Started with 8.0b5 and continued with 9.0b1. Thx.
