Wouldn't it be better to make some sort of Winamp plugin for .fur modules instead? |

Gonna agree, maybe something like the equivalent of libopenmpt, libfurnace? heh |

Agreed. Probably an winamp/foobar2000 or even an command script player would be better than creating a playlist system inside furnace imo. |

I think that if people wanted to play their Furnace tunes in Foobar, for most systems, you can just export as MP3 or VGM and then play that in Foobar or similar programs. What I'm instead thinking of is a player for all Furnace module files (directly, not in other formats), however we were also discussing this in the Furnace server and I think from that discussion, a player for both would be ideal. |

instead of this or plugins we need a libopenmpt equivalent for furnace, which can be used to create plugins for media players but is also useful for other usage cases, e.g. play fur modules on game engines |

Furnace already can play modules on a command prompt mode, so we don't really need to create an separate software to play modules, but instead the command prompt mode can be enchaned to be pretty similar to libopenmpt (avoinding the need of creating an totally new software for playing fur modules). |

general idea
Module playlists would be nice for people who don't/can't render a massive MP3 or something, just so they can listen to their favorite Furnace/Deflemask/Amiga MOD music while they do something.
mockup
Here's a small mockup of what I think it might look like if it were implemented.
(alt text, a regular furnace module, with the details of the module displayed over the pattern, with a transparent background between them.)
how it might be done
I think that this could be implemented well by renaming the existing new button to "new module", and introducing another button below it, "new playlist", that would open a pattern editor. Alternatively, the "new" button could become a dropdown, with the options "module" and "playlist", though this might not be favorable for creating playlists quickly. To load playlists
After that, the playlist would be played by another new button, "open playlist" (similar edits to above may be required), and then the playlist would be played, similar to how the mockup above did it.
another mockup
Here's what the playlist creator could look like: (apologies for the massive amount of whitespace, I just copied and pasted the New Module dialog and edited it in paint.net lol)
