Hangs on launch

Just found and downloaded Friture for the first time, unfortunately it doesn't appear to work at all. On my Mac with macOS Big Sur 11.0.1, Friture just hangs immediately on launch and has to be force quit.

Same for me on an Intel MacBook Pro with macOS Big Sur 11.2.

And similar on High Sierra. The application simply exits.

I found a solution is just by using spectrogram feature within Audacity, you just go Track->Spectrogram and you got it

Thanks for the reports, and sorry for the issues with Friture on Macos, especially Big Sur. I don't own any Mac myself, so fixing this is not easy.

However, we already have an existing open issue for Macos Big Sur here: #154 so I am going to close the current one as a duplicate. Please comment on #154 if you have further information to help us fix this issue. As mentioned in the last comment in #154, we have just released Friture 0.44 with the latest Portaudio code that is supposed to fix Macos Big Sur compatibility, so it would be nice if you could test this version.
