Hello,
First of all, thank you so much to the Saroo team for creating and maintaining such a great device and software.

I wanted to report a few issues with Albert Odyssey after playing for about three hours:

  • World map corruption: Colours were off, getting into the menu (Start) and exit it restored the normal look and feel. Happened just once.
  • Distorted music: Noticed in both towns and world map. Sometimes the music sounds distorted, entering in a new area and coming back (if needed) makes the issue go away. During this 3 hour gameplay, it happened around 5 or 6 times.
  • Console hang, black screen: I was in Solace (town), I got a black screen when I tried to enter the item shop, no music no response. I hit the reset button, load the game (fortunately I just saved it) and then I was able to enter the shop and continuing playing just fine.

My console is a white Japanese Saturn VA5.

I have experienced the world map video corruption around 6 times now, and the hanging black screen a couple times as well.
I also had the video corruption issue happen once in a battle. If it helps, I'm using a white VA13 Saturn, with the same hardware MCU, SS, and FPGA, I also use a 512GB SanDisk Image Mate micro sd card.

I tried adding a sector delay to the config file, I initially tried 1000, but got a different type of over world graphics error. After some testing with this configuration, I didn't get any of the over world corruption or the black screen lockup. Here is what I added to the config file.

#Albert's Odyssey
[T-12705H V1.100]
sector_delay = 2000

I will report any issues as I advance in the story, my testing consisted of grinding alone so this may need to be changed if any issues crop up again as I move on.

Edit- The game locked up when I progressed to the second part of the first Balan fight, I'm testing again with a value of 2500, and hoping that it doesn't happen again as it took a good while to go though the castle.

update- 2500 didn't cause the game to crash at the second phase of the Balan fight.

This is the Final edit to this comment I will make, 2500 has worked flawlessly as I progressed to the second chapter of the game, it still needs more testing to verify it as an actual solution to these problems, but it seems to be a working fix as of now.

Update: 2500 worked up to the 4 towers section of the game where, in the left tower, after grinding from level 43-48, the game locked up on a black screen mid transition. I'm going to try 3000 until there is a problem, or I complete the rest of the game. I will report back with the results.

Update: I completed the rest of the game grinding to level 58 in the same area before moving on with the story.
3000 should hopefully work without issues, but considering it took me about 1/6th of the game to get a single soft lock using 2500, I cant say that the final config Is perfect, but it should heavily mitigate the listed issues. I hope this helps.
