Pitch

in the home tab, when I have reached the top of the toots, and I drag down to refresh (or use the refresh button), then the new toots are added "above", that is I still see the last toot visible before refreshing and the new ones are added on top so that I just need to drag down to see the next one.
The "Load more" button had the inverse way of adding the additional toots: I see on the screen the last toot just below the "load more" button, and when I click on the button, than the new toots are added in a way that the just visible, las read toot is pushed further below. So then when I want to continue to read the new toots just above the last read, I need to scroll down, searching for the last toots that I had read.
It would be great if there could be an option that would switch the way the additional toots are added to "add them above", so that the last read toot stays visible on the screen.
I hope this is clear, it's quite difficult to explain, and even screenshots would not help.
Cheers
Oliver

Motivation

it's probably because my reading direction is always from oldest last read to newest.

Have you tried the "Reading direction" Preference? It should do what you want

@connyduck thanks for the hint, didn't think that the reading direction would have an effect on this problem. I switched it on, and I'm surprised that there seemed to be no effect on the general reading direction (that is newest toots are still on top and not at the bottom as I would have expected). Now I need to wait to have sufficient messages to get the "load more" button. I'll post again the result.
Cheers

@connyduck you are correct. Changing the reading direction does the trick. Thanks.
