The limitation in the readme file mentions
" consider switching to Makisu to improve layer reusability at build time, or tweak compression ratios, as docker pull spends most of the time on data decompression."
However, it's crucial to note that since 2021, Makisu has been officially deprecated so it makes no sense to continue to have this in my opinion.
