  • What can we offer to our participants?
For instance, could we write letter of recommendation?

Good question/point!
I think the Board could write a letter of recommendation (upon request) for active instructors (and helpers?), but we should formulate a set of criteria for this. And it should be something that needs to be passed by the entire Board, not just one member, to avoid weird situations.
Another thing "we" could do, perhaps more the library coordinators actually, is that we could keep better track of who teaches what in what capacity. The regional coordinator already takes good care of this by registering all our workshops in AMY, and locally, we are making proper websites for all workshops and keeping them as a backlog for future reference.
I would also say that we, as a Board, should lobby for making teaching Carpentries workshops eligible for credits in Ph.D. programs or parts of the mandatory teaching. As far as I know, I was/am the only one who got teaching Carpentries into her completion grand as partial fulfillment of teaching obligations. Please feel free to use me as a case :)
Yet another thing we can offer is the instructor-training. Becoming an official instructor is something we can offer with the membership the library has. As I have suggested previously, I think instructor training spots should be given to candidates that have shown initiative and commitment to the community and can be expected to contribute in the future. With the Nordic and Baltic region having a coordinator and more connection, we can also "offer" teaching workshops outside of UiO and connecting instructors with other Nordic and Baltic institutions. This might help in regards to career-building, and if nothing else than it might be a nice way to travel and see the North by teaching workshops.

These are excellent ideas and a good starting point for our 'community strategy', something the board should develop with the community manager

Great suggestions, Annika! Regarding recommendation letters, we could have a standard template, and add more information depending on how much we know about the instructor/helper. We could also use, if available, learner's comments in requested letters.
