is it possible to use plunk with a different backend than amazon in the future? i would look for a fully self hosted webhook to email service. does this make sense to integrate or is the whole tool tied to strong to amazon?

Other email providers could be a long-term addition.

Fully self-hosted email infrastructure will never happen as proper reputation management would be impossible without ridiculous complex setup.
