Describe the issue

  • The Trusted Platform Module 2.0 fails to load.
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

I don't any resources to disable or clashing with this.

I need this to load in order to enable BitLocker without TPM loaded Bitlocker doesn't allow it to be enabled (yes it needs to be Intel X64 for other 64bit applications to be installed and for configuration of BitLocker as it's part of GPO that gets pushed down to check it's enabled)

  • A fresh new installation of Windows 10 Pro Intel x64 installer from Microsoft site: Win10_22H2_EnglishInternational_x64v1.iso
  • Only devices that are setup in UTM is, VGA, Network and Windows ISO installer and also virtio-win-0.1.229.iso

I'm putting this in here for future people who stumble on this as it took me a good amount of time to track this down.
I found that the spice guest tools iso the drivers don't have a digital signature so after much researching, I came across this https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Windows_VirtIO_Drivers and used virtio-win-0.1.229.iso for loading the digitally signed drivers by Red Hat. It would be good to have these as part of UTM or documented that the spice one's fail to load as they don't have a digital signature.

Configuration

  • UTM Version: 4.3.5 (87)
  • macOS Version: Ventura 13.5.1
  • Mac Chip (Intel, M1, ...): Apple M2 Max (Macbook Pro 16-inch 2023)

Thanks @osy however those windows drivers fail to load after installation as Windows OS reports back they fail to be loaded as they don't have a digital signature, that's why I had to use the other ones.

@osy I will get up screenshots of your drivers after they are installed showing they won't work.

Also I spun up a Windows 11 ARM64 Insider ISO from Microsoft Insider and TPM 2.0 is showing up running as expected.

Hi @osy screenshots done with your supplied one and then using the other ones, I have created a new github issue here: #5623 as they are separate issues here.
