Describe the issue
Right after updating UTM I ran an ArchLinux for ARM VM that previously ran without any issue.
On the first bootup the resolution, instead of the usual full screen MacBook Air resolution 2560x1600 pixels was a comparatively very low one. When I changed the resolution to 2560x1600 in gnome settings the image on the screen was jagged, while before that it was completely smooth.
I therefore rebooted the VM and now I couldn't find anymore the proper 2560x1600 resolution but only a 2560x1536 one, which didn't cover the full screen resolution and also looked jagged. So I set a resolution that would cover at least the whole screen, albeit a lower one at that: 1920x1200.
I rebooted once again and now the gnome display setting don't even show a 16:10 2560 based resolution.

I'm using virtio-gpu-gl-pci, just like before updating.

Configuration

  • UTM Version: 4.6.2 (104)
  • macOS Version: 15.1.1 (24B91)
  • Mac Chip (Intel, M1, ...): M1

Debug log
debug1.log
Log from the first run of the VM. Just this time it showed a black screen and when I tried to reboot the VM I got a loading wheel. I had to force quit UTM and relaunch it.

debug2.log
Now it showed the 25601536 resolution, which wasn't showing on previous runs. Still it's missing the 25601600 resolution.

The problem is still here after updating to version 4.6.3 (106).
The gnome display settings on archlinux still don't show the native screen resolution as it did before. Don't know what happened between 4.6.0 and 4.6.2 that caused the issue.

Correction: going back to a window and then going back full screen seems to now show the proper display resolution (that contrary to what I expected was 2880x1800). Still, when I reboot I have to do exactly the same thing as it seems to lose the full screen display resolution.
