License for echo.rs and Rust by Example #470
Comments
Given that the implementations are so different and you've stated that the code is adapted from I'd wait to hear what everyone else thinks before merging the code, though. @Seldaek may also be interested in this. |
Just to be clear: My code will be dual-licensed (MIT and Apache, just like Rust itself). |
Oh, well that's even better. 😄 |
Completely fine by me, and I think legally there isn't much we could do anyway ;) |

(I apologize if this is not the right channel.)
I have written a chapter for Rust by Example on command-line arguments and I used a drastically simplified version of uutils' echo for one example.
Rust by Example's license is Apache and MIT, uutils' license is MIT, but it has a different name in the copyright notice. If I understand the license correctly, I would have to include it in Rust by Example.
Do you think I can use the code without changing or adding copyright notices in Rust by Example?
(The two echo implementation diverged significantly by now, compare my implementation to uutils'.)
