Window scroll after next() in beforeRouteUpdate()

Hey,
I'm currently upgrading from Vue2 to Vue3 and the below code used to work but now it doesn't scroll. Can anyone explain why?

beforeRouteUpdate(to, from, next) {
    if (to.query.random) {
      next();
      this.scrollNewWindow();
      console.log(5);
    } else {
      next();
    }
  },
scrollNewWindow() {
      console.log(0);
      this.$nextTick(() => {
        window.scrollBy(0, 100);
      });
    },
