Justification in Adlam

Adlam no longer uses the the baseline extender for justification. This feature existed in the older fonts that where encoded on Arabic codepoints. I still need to understand if center-justification is being practiced at all now.

I hope to see a description of the new approach here shortly.

The sources that used elongation also often tended to fully justify the last line of the paragraph (see the images linked to above). Is that also changed in the new approach?

Currently, I can only speculate that it is a combo of the script being less influenced by Arabic over time coupled with the inadequate implementation of the baseline extension as a means for justification.

The reason why we had the extender is because the font and the keyboard were created based on Arabic code points. It is something we did not use at all in the documents we wrote by hand. To justify, we prefer to use the hyphen for words longer that two syllables and here is an example:

If it is a short word, space based justification can be used.

Thanks for clarifying this. Looking at the example led me to raise an additional question at #7 (comment) about joining behaviour around the hyphen.
