This is a tracker issue. Only discuss things here if they are i18n group internal meta-discussions about the issue. Contribute to the actual discussion at the following link:

Not sure if this one should be investigated further, so tagging it for a deeper look.

PNG decided to leave this alone. The tEXt and zTXt types use ISO 8859-1 as the encoding (and they mean that specific encoding), but PNG now prefers the UTF-8 encoded iTXt. It is possible that users are using Latin-1 to byte smuggle other encodings, but that's on them.
