@mmccool mentioned that he wants to read through the scripting document to identify missing features.

We should read the discovery spec also to get a better feeling what we are missing.

I would suggest keeping an eye on also to: w3c/wot-discovery#274 . Which will soon introduce a substantial change in the spec. I already gave my review there, I hope to give a pass also to the whole document soon.
