Make sure to use VAPID, and have a valid subject (mailto or https website). Setting urgency might help too.

I use VAPID and have also set a subject, but it hasn't worked for a few weeks now.

We use this library on Android and Apple devices. It‘s working perfectly.
What is the result (print_r())?
