stream pdf data to a variable?

In the documentation I see methods to stream or to download in the browser. Is there a method to get the generated document data so it can be assigned to a variable?

I'd like to have the binary data rather than the laravelpdf object and I'd like to store it in memory rather than save it immediately to the filesystem.
