Add new entries to C-8 to identify GNOS-2 and MWTS-3 on FY-3E

Summary and purpose

This document proposes new entries to Common Code Tables C-8 to identify GNOS-2 and MWTS-3 instruments on FY-3E.

Action proposed

The meeting is kindly invited to review and approve the proposed new entries for inclusion within the next update to the WMO Manual on Codes.

Discussions

GNOS-2 and MWTS-3 are new instruments flown on FY-3E. GNOS-2 is temperature/humidity sounding with highest vertical resolution, also for space weather and sea surface wind speed (https://space.oscar.wmo.int/instruments/view/gnos_2). MWTS-3 is temperature sounding in nearly-all-weather conditions (https://space.oscar.wmo.int/instruments/view/mwts_3).
New entries to Common Code Table C-8 are needed to identify these two instruments.
