Problem with Prototype 1.7.1

Since the update from Prototype 1.7 to 1.7.1 there's the following issue in IE8 (yes, alas there are people still using this):

When having a wo:ERXJavascript inside a wo:AjaxModalDialog, the Javascript isn't executed. The problem might be more general and exist for all Javascript code inside of HTML fragments loaded by Ajax.

Prototype has been updated but the files

• wondaculous.js
• wondaculous-min.js

in master branch are still on 1.7. Probably that is why nobody has experienced any problems as they still rely on 1.7. Either we should revert to Prototype 1.7 or someone will have to generate the two mentioned files and thoroughly test.
