authentication for get requests

Hi,

Thanks for these tools, they have helped me a lot!
Is it true that for get requests (for example get_resource_by_id or filter_items_by_property) the authentication isn't being used?
I'm trying to retrieve resources that are set to is_public=False without success, adding items is no problem.
