Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

DCS4COP and DCSF users require extraction of pointdata from cubes. We have xcube extract but in its current form
it lacks flexibility and it isn't well verified yet with real-world data.

Describe the solution you'd like

  • Make CLI a module on its own
  • Add CLI options output, format, index_name_pattern, (include_)refs, ref_name_pattern to represent API capabilities
  • Move any useful CLI logic into API, e.g. reference column renaming
  • Add more unit-tests cases for API, CLI
  • Do extensive performance testing incl. verification and runtime optimizations with real-world big data
