Please ensure you include/confirm the following information before submitting an issue.

  • I have listed the Audio Switcher version
  • I have listed my operating system, and version
  • Include any details about the audio devices on the system
  • If you are using Nvidia or AMD for sound, include the driver versions
  • [] This is not an issue about setting more than one device as default from a hotkey, quick switch or other relating switching activity.

And do remember this application is developed and distributed FOR FREE, you should have no expectation that an issue will be fixed in a reasonable time-frame.

I find that occasionally one or more of my hotkey assignments no longer work. When I go to the Hotkeys tab, the hotkeys that aren't working are no longer listed, but I'm also unable to re-add them because the application behaves as though those hotkeys are already assigned. The only workaround is to clear ALL of the hotkeys and re-assign them one by one. I haven't found a consistent scenario that reproduces the issue - only that I notice it happening after reboot / startup - it doesn't occur while using the PC normally. It seems like the UI and the backend are out of sync.

Audio Switcher 1.8.0.142 (latest)
Windows 10 Pro 20H2 19042.1466
Audio Devices:
Realtek(R) Audio through MSI B550 Gaming Edge Wifi mobo to Speakers
HyperX Virtual Surround Sound

I'd also really like to know if the developer is planning on looking into some of the issues presented and if AudioSwitcherV2 will be released or put up on GitHub. I'm more than happy to donate some money towards the cause, but if they're no longer active then I'm not sure it makes sense. If we submit PRs for some of the issues then will the developer merge them into a release?

Sometimes the windows randomly "reinstalls" the audio device which changes its Id.

You can turn on the "Show Unknown Devices" and it will allow you to remove that troublesome hotkey and re-add it.

Another workaround is to "clear all" hotkeys and then re-add them.

For whatever reason "Clear All" didn't remove the Hotkeys. It removed them from the Hotkeys tab, but when I tried to readd them, there was error "Hot Key is already registered". I restarted the program, and I could see the Hotkeys in the tab, but devices were empty. I clicked Edit and selected the correcte devices again.

I'm using Windows 11 Pro 21H2 OS Build 22000.856

My Hotkeys list is blank, however the 4 hotkeys I have setup are still working, I just cannot view or edit them it seems.
