[Brainstorming] Custom Format

Supporting custom format while exporting tab(s), has been asked in multiple feature requests.

This post collects some ideas of template variables.

Apply to both tab exporting and current page link:

• Current Date / Time (used as Access Date; need a function to format datetime) feat(*): Insert date string in beginning of link text. #87
• Hostname (e.g. example.com) Generated link title contains reserved characters (Brackets) in version 2.7.1 #121
• Index (1, 2, 3...) (though I think reference-style links can be a built-in feature) [Feature Request] Copy as footnote #92
• Favicon base64 (really?)
• Regexp Replacement (need a function)
  • General Text Replacement RFE - if possible, provide some type of regex filtering to mask out certain parts of the page titles #125
  • Re-formatting Site Title (no warranty!!) Per-site link formatting #52

Apply to current page only:

• Text Selection (can be used to quote + link) Copy current tab URL with text selection as link text #64
• Image base64 (inline element) (optionally?) embedd images as base64 #83

Issues:

• Need to provide some snippets so that people can grab common formats from Wiki
• Writing template string means it might not be friendly to non-programmer
• Number of custom formats
• How do they appear on the popup window
• How do they appear on the context menu
• Max items of keyboard shortcuts
