I am an Associate Professor, Lee Heng Fellow, in the Department of [Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management (ISOM)](http://www.bm.ust.hk/isom/index.html), School of Business and Management, at the [Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)](http://www.ust.hk/). I joined the department in July 2017.
I am also the Director of the Center for Business and Social Analytics (CBSA).
I am currently an Associate Editor for the INFORMS Journal on Computing, a member of the Editorial Review Board for Information Systems Research (ISR), and an Associate Editor for the MIS Quarterly (MISQ) Special Issue on "The Institutional Press in the Digital Age". I am also a Senior Area Chair for the ACL Rolling Review (ARR).
My research interests are natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, statistical inference, and their applications in finance and business.
I obtained a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at Northwestern University in 2015, and a bachelor's degree from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2009.
