as the vscode of new version 1.61 enabled Split an editor without creating a new group (aka workbench.editor.splitInGroupLayout in vscode setting),
i wonder if we're finally able to preview the markdown file, in the same tab of the file editor, which webstorm had done for a while.
now with the extension, we can preview the markdown, but in a new tab, which makes me a little annoyed when clickin twice(one to the editor, one to the preview) to close the file.

The preview is provided by VS Code, not us.

I'm afraid you misunderstood the "Split Editor in Group" feature. The Markdown preview is a webview, not editor.

Thanks a lot!
I've been following this topic as well. Seems the feature is soon on the way :)
